Silva Kiili

Non-Resident Research Fellow

Silva Kiili joined ICDS in January 2015 and is currently collaborating as a non-resident researcher. Her field of investigation focuses on the challenges and problems connected to women’s participation in defence structures. She also takes part in a NATO work group that focuses on the integration of women into ground combat units.

Her second field of investigation focuses on the motivating factors, such as personal values, expectations and perceived obligations, of soldiers and volunteers in national defence organizations. Silva is cooperating closely with the Estonian Defence Forces, Estonian Defence League, Danish Home Guard and Ukrainian volunteer-based battalions.

She has presented the results of her studies in numerous conferences and seminars, her articles have been published both in media outlets and a scientific journal. Silva is currently acquiring a PhD degree in Management in the Estonian Business School.
